week 28
Yesterday, we had a doctors appointment. Probably my least favorite visit yet. First, I did the diabetes test. I drank a sweet, sweet orange drink in "less than a minute" (as the nurse said) and waited an hour. After the hour she pricked my finger to test my glucose and HG levels. Glucose was 110 (good). HG was 10.5 (not so good). The doctor told me my iron was low and put me on a supplement for the rest of pregnancy. This wasn't really a surprise to me because since I've been pregnant I do not like red meat (or any meat for that matter). Also, I've been tired more than usual which can be caused from my iron being low. So, that's under control now. After the diabetes test I got the Rogam shot in my hip. My blood type is negative (and Aus is positive), so I had to get this shot. From what I understand, if Hallie has my negative blood then everything is okay. But if Hallie has Austins positive blood then I will get the shot again after labor. When I get pregnant again if that baby has positive blood, my body would fight to take care of me and not protect the baby. So, with this shot everyone is safe. At the appointment yesterday, we heard her heartbeat on Doppler! Strong and steady. Also, we go back in 3 weeks instead of 4. That means it's getting close to delivery! Which makes me very nervous.
