week 18

Since we've had to cancel the last couple doctor appointments (due to Austin working out-of-town) we decided to find a place in Virginia to get an ultrasound. We found a perfect place (where they were booked until December 24th) that worked us in! Thursday, December 3rd, 2:30 (Eastern Time).

Before the appointment, I ate a Krispy Kreme donut and drank a Pepsi to get the baby to move. In the room, we held hands as we saw our baby on the screen! We both smiled the entire ultrasound, so proud (already) of the baby inside of me. The ultrasound tech noticed that the baby was sitting on my bladder and I mentioned that's why I am CONSTANTLY in the restroom (every 15 minutes)! Since the baby was in this position, all we could see was a face. I mentioned that it must be a stubborn boy! And the tech mentioned that it could be a modest girl.

The tech tried pushing on my stomach to reposition the baby and she caught a glimpse of a baby girl! :) Austin said, "Are you serious!?" I grinned-even bigger than I already was! Our baby girl was definately modest-- she kept her hand over her face and her legs crossed (not wanting to show us that she was a little girl). The tech asked me to empty my bladder, so the baby would change positions. When I returned, our baby girl gave us another QUICK peek then returned to her modest position! "The baby" or "it" or "he/she" (what she's been called for 18 weeks) is a girl! :) Austin said, "There are going to be some happy grandparents!"

We got several 2D and 3D pictures with a CD and a DVD of the ultrasound! Also, we got a bag with a pregnancy journal, coupons, info pamphlets, and our first can of formula!

We left in a hurry to call everyone! Both of our moms screamed with excitement! So sweet. All of our grandparents were just as thrilled! And other family and friends too!

We celebrated at Outback Steakhouse! My new favorite. Then, Austin surprised me and we went to Baby Depot! We looked at baby furniture, clothes, accessories, etc. Next, we went to Books-a-Million and bought a book with baby names. When we got back to the hotel, we looked through the book. Some names we couldn't agree on. Other names we just laughed and joked about!

We love her very much and can not wait to see her beautiful face.
