4am, the rain falls: both inside and out

"Rain down, all around the world we're singing rain down...
my heart is dry, but still I'm singing rain down..."

SO, "the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew..." [Matthew 7]

As the rain begins to fall, many seek shelter[ syn. refuge, haven, sanctuary, protection, cover].
LET ME ASK, IS YOUR SHELTER SAFE?

Is it built on solid rock or sinking sand?

1) "And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house;
and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock."

OR

2) "... a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house;
and it fell: and great was the fall of it."

When the storms of life come your way, what and/or who is your refuge? To who or where do you run?

" I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth." [Psalms 121]

JESUS CHRIST IS MY SOLID ROCK, MY FOUNDATION, MY REFUGE.

you may wonder, why?

Because,
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the LORD,
He is my refuge and my fortress:
my God; in him will I trust.

Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler,
and from the noisome pestilence.

He shall cover thee with his feathers,
and under his wings shalt thou trust:
his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night;
nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness;
nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

A thousand shall fall at thy side,
and ten thousand at thy right hand;
but it shall not come nigh thee.

Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold
and see the reward of the wicked.

Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge,
even the Most High, thy habitation;

there shall no evil befall thee,
neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

Forhe shall give his angels charge over thee,
to keep thee in all thy ways.

They shall bear thee up in their hands,
lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder:
the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him:
I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

He shall call upon me, and I will answer him:
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him, and honor him.

With long life will I satisfy him,
and show him my salvation." [Psalm 91]

WHEN your "hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness...", know that the rains will STILL come, the thunders will STILL roar, and the lightning will STILL strike. But "in this chaos, in confusion, You're [He, Jesus Christ is] sovereign (syn. reigning, commanding, guiding, directing) still."

Sometimes (before the sun shines again)... the rain and tears will fall harder, the lightning will strike closer to your heart, and the thunder or chaos will grow louder.

"I was sure by now, God,
that You would have reached down
and wiped our tears away,
stepped in and saved the day.
But once again,
I say amen and it's still raining.
As the thunder rolls,
I barely hear You whisper through the rain,
"I'm with you..."

And I'll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands.
For You are who You are
no matter where I am.
And every tear I've cried,
You hold in your hand.
You never left my side.
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm.

I remember when I stumbled in the wind,
You heard my cry to You
and raised me up again.
My strength is almost gone,
how can I carry on
if I can't find You?
And as the thunder rolls,
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you."
And as Your mercy falls,
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away."

SO, thank you Lord for the storms and for the assurance that You are with us.
Sometimes, I feel like a child who's experiencing bad weather for the first time.
My heart pounds, tears fall, frantic for help... I run to YOU.
You hold me in Your arms and whisper, " PEACE, BE STILL.
And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm." [Mark 4:29]

"ALL AT ONCE, those dark clouds broke, and the sun started shining again..."

AND...

"In the quiet, in the stillness
I know that You are God.
In the secret of Your presence,
I know there I am RESTORED."

"Back to the start, my heart is heavy.
Feels like it's time, to dream again.
I see the clouds, and yes I'm ready
To dance upon this barren land.
Hope in my hands.

Do not shut, do not shut, do not shut the Heavens.
But open up, open up, open up our hearts...

Cause it's living water we desire,
To flood our hearts with holy fire."
